# Subscriptions

> Get a dashboard or chart delivered to email or Slack on a schedule

A subscription delivers a dashboard or chart to email or Slack on a recurring schedule. Queries run when each delivery is sent, so recipients always get current numbers without opening Basedash.

<Info>
  Available on all plans. Anyone who can view a dashboard or chart can subscribe
  to it.
</Info>

## Overview

Use a subscription when the dashboard already answers the question and people just need to see it regularly, such as a daily revenue chart in a Slack channel or a weekly KPI dashboard by email.

Subscriptions send images of your charts. For an AI-written analysis on a schedule, use an [automation](/docs/features/automations).

## Subscribe to a dashboard or chart

1. Open the menu:
   * For a dashboard, click **...** in the dashboard header, or right-click the dashboard in the sidebar.
   * For a chart, open the chart's **...** menu on a dashboard, or right-click the chart.
2. Click **Subscribe**, then **New subscription**.
3. Set the schedule: every day, weekday, week, month, or quarter, the day if needed, and a time. Times use your time zone. Quarterly deliveries go out in January, April, July, and October.
4. Under **Deliver to**, click **Add destination** and add email recipients, a Slack channel, or both. Slack requires the [Slack app](/docs/features/slack).
5. Click **Create subscription**.

You can create more than one subscription for the same dashboard or chart, for example a daily one for your team and a weekly one for leadership.

## What gets delivered

* A dashboard subscription includes an image of every chart on the dashboard.
* A chart subscription includes an image of that chart.
* Each delivery runs the queries when it's sent, so the numbers are current.

### Filters in deliveries

Deliveries use the dashboard's **default filter values**, not the filters you have applied in your current view. Relative date ranges, such as "Last 30 days", are calculated when each delivery is sent. To change what a subscription shows, change the dashboard's default filters. See [Filters and variables](/docs/features/filters-and-variables).

## Manage subscriptions

Open **Subscribe** from the same menu to see existing subscriptions.

* Turn off **Active** to pause a subscription without deleting it. Paused subscriptions show a **Paused** badge.
* Click a subscription to change its schedule or destinations.
* Click **Delete** to remove it.

You can edit your own subscriptions. To edit someone else's subscription, you need full access to the dashboard or chart.

<Note>
  Deliveries stop if the person who created the subscription is removed from the
  organization, or when the trial ends.
</Note>

## FAQ

<AccordionGroup>

    [automation](/docs/features/automations) and ask for a CSV in its instructions.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why does the delivery show different numbers from my screen?">
    Deliveries use the dashboard's default filter values. If you changed the
    filters in your view, save them as the default or reset them to see what the
    subscription sends.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I subscribe to a public or embedded dashboard?">
    No. **Subscribe** isn't available in embeds. Subscribe from the dashboard in
