Databricks, data tab improvements, connection bug fixes, and more
Major changes
Databricks as a data source
You can now connect Databricks as a data source. Point Basedash at your Databricks SQL warehouse and start querying right away. This expands support for enterprise data stacks and makes it easier to bring Databricks datasets into dashboards and AI workflows.
Connection uses your Databricks workspace URL and SQL warehouse credentials. Once connected, tables appear alongside your other sources in the Data tab.
Mobile navigation: “More” menu for account and org actions
We’ve added a “More” menu in mobile navigation so it’s easy to log out and switch organizations from your phone. This addresses the prior limitation where these actions were hard to access on smaller screens.
The result is a more complete and predictable mobile experience across accounts and orgs.
Data tab: Fivetran connectors now visible
Fivetran connectors are now shown directly in the Data tab, making it simpler to see which sources power your workspace and to navigate to the right data quickly. This improves data discovery and reduces friction when exploring connected sources.
Clearer database error messages
Database errors are now classified and surfaced with user-friendly messages. Common connection and query issues (auth/permissions, syntax, SSL, rate limiting) show clearer guidance while detailed diagnostics are logged for our team. This should reduce back-and-forth and speed up troubleshooting.
Fixes and improvements
Google Drive connectors: fixed setup failures; each connection now syncs to its own schema (google_drive, google_drive_1, …) to avoid naming conflicts.
BigQuery introspection: errors are no longer swallowed—clear feedback is shown when introspection fails.
Table metadata: table and column descriptions now sync properly for Snowflake and Postgres (including on initial sync), so you see documentation in the UI sooner.
Auto-refresh intervals: default changed from 5 minutes to 15 minutes; added a 24-hour option; removed the 10-second interval.
Data tab polish:
Splash/loading: added a progress bar and removed the extra button for a smoother start-up experience.
Inline AI messages: improved styling for better readability and alignment.
Command menu and dashboards: improved “Add to dashboard” flow and prioritized dashboards in the command menu for quicker actioning.
Chat UX:
Dashboard editing: clicking metrics on a card now correctly selects the chart in edit mode.
Table browsing: applying a filter after paginating now resets the page so filtered results appear as expected.
Archived content clarity: added a clear yellow Archived indicator for archived charts and dashboards.
