Settings is where admins configure the organization and where everyone manages their own profile, preferences, and API keys.
Available on all plans. Everyone can open Profile, API keys, and Members. Other settings pages are for admins only.

Open settings

Click the gear icon at the top of the left sidebar. Settings are grouped into three sections: Click Back to app to leave settings.

General

Admins can change these organization-wide settings in Settings → General.

Name and icon

Change the organization’s Name or click Change icon to upload a PNG or JPEG. The organization’s URL doesn’t change when you rename it.

Fiscal year

Set Fiscal year start date to the month and day your fiscal year begins. The default is January 1. Basedash uses it to calculate fiscal quarter and fiscal year date ranges in dashboard date filters.

Query caching

Query caching is on by default. Charts load instantly from cached results and refresh in the background, so people see data right away and get fresh numbers a moment later. Turn it off to always run queries directly against your data sources. Charts may load more slowly, and your databases will receive more queries.

Channel integrations

Connect, reconnect, or disconnect the Slack app for your organization.

Delete organization

In the Danger zone, click Delete organization and type the organization’s name to confirm. This permanently deletes members, dashboards, charts, data sources, groups, domains, and Basedash Warehouse resources, and can’t be undone. You can’t delete an organization while it has an active subscription. Cancel billing first from Billing.

Feature settings

Admins can turn features on or off and set their defaults under Features in settings. Turning off a feature hides it in the product. For example, when models are turned off, people can’t create or edit models, but charts that already use a model keep working.

Profile

Everyone can update their own profile in Settings → Profile:
  • Profile picture and Full name. Your email can’t be changed here.
  • Theme: Light, Dark, or System.
  • Open links in desktop app: open Basedash links in the desktop app instead of the browser.
  • Language: English, Español, Français, or Português.
  • Personal AI context: preferences and instructions the AI should follow when you work in this organization. See personal context.
  • Delete account: type “delete my account” to confirm.

Language

The language setting changes the Basedash interface for you only. If you haven’t picked a language, Basedash uses your browser’s language when it’s supported, and English otherwise. Emails, AI answers, and your data aren’t translated. To get AI answers in another language, ask in that language or add it to your personal AI context.

API keys

Everyone, in any role, can create personal API keys in Settings → API keys to use the public API.
  1. Click Create API key.
  2. Enter a Name to help you recognize the key later.
  3. Click Create, then copy the key. You won’t be able to see it again.
A key acts as you: it can do what your role and access allow, and nothing more. Admin-only endpoints need a key that belongs to an admin. Keys don’t expire. Delete a key from the list when you no longer need it.

FAQ

With query caching on, a chart first shows its most recent cached result, then refreshes from your data source in the background. To force fresh data, use Refresh data on the chart or dashboard.
No. The URL is set when the organization is created and doesn’t change when you rename it.
