Every chart, dashboard, and chat in Basedash can be shared with teammates, and most can be exported or copied for use outside Basedash.
Available on all plans. What you can share depends on your role and access to each item.

Overview

Export chart data

  1. Open the chart’s menu.
  2. Hover Export.
  3. Choose Markdown, CSV, JSON, or Excel.
The export runs the chart’s query again and downloads every row it returns, not only the rows on screen, up to 1,000,000 rows. Columns you’ve hidden in the chart are left out. You can also export the underlying records when you drill down into a chart element.

Copy a chart

Open the chart’s menu and hover Copy to copy:
  • Copy link: a link to the chart that teammates with access can open.
  • Copy as PNG: an image of the chart, ready to paste into a doc or message.
  • SQL: the chart’s query.
  • Markdown, CSV, or JSON: the chart’s data.

Export a dashboard to PDF

Open the dashboard’s menu and choose Export to PDF. Basedash downloads the dashboard as a PDF file.

Download data from chat

When you ask chat for data you can take elsewhere, for example “Export all customers who signed up last month as a CSV,” the AI creates a CSV file in the conversation. Click the file card to download it. The card shows the row count and file size, and says Row limit reached if the result was cut off. Only people who can access the chat can download its files. Download links expire after 30 days. In Slack, the CSV is attached to the thread instead.

Share with teammates

  • Charts: open the chart’s menu and choose Share to send it to a Slack channel or copy its link.
  • Dashboards: click Share to give members, groups, or everyone access. See Sharing and collaboration.
  • Chats: click Share to let others read or continue the conversation. See Share a chat.
A shared link only works for people who already have access to the item.

Share outside your organization

To share a dashboard with people who don’t have a Basedash account, turn on Embedding in the dashboard’s share menu. This creates a public, view-only link and an iframe code you can paste into a website. Anyone with the link can view the dashboard, so use Reset link if it leaks. Filters are hidden on public dashboards unless you turn on Show on public dashboard for each filter. To embed dashboards in your own product with per-user data, see Embedding.

Send on a schedule

Use subscriptions to email or post a chart or dashboard to Slack every day, week, or month. Use automations when you need CSV attachments, conditions, or custom messages.

Restore deleted charts and dashboards

Deleted charts and dashboards go to Recently deleted, which you can open from the filter on the Charts page or in the sidebar. They stay there for 30 days, then are permanently deleted.
  • To restore a chart, choose Restore to and pick a dashboard.
  • To restore a dashboard, click Restore.
  • To remove an item right away, choose Permanently delete.
Deleting a chart or dashboard requires full access to it. Restoring requires edit access.

Limits

  • Chart exports are limited to 1,000,000 rows. - Export isn’t available for multi-source charts. - Chat CSV download links expire after 30 days. - Deleted chats can’t be restored.

FAQ

On the Enterprise plan, every chart export is recorded in the audit log with the query, format, and row count.
